Town Hall

Diversity Recovery alliance Town Hall

Join us for an open and engaging Town Hall Meeting as we introduce Diversity Recovery Alliance, San Antonio’s new nonprofit dedicated to providing safe, low-cost meeting spaces for LGBTQ+ recovery groups. This event is an opportunity for community members, allies, and supporters to learn more about our mission, ask questions, and share insights on how we can best serve those in need of a safe space for healing and growth.

What to Expect:

    •    A presentation on Diversity Recovery Alliance’s vision and services

    •    Updates on our space and upcoming programs

    •    A Q&A session to hear your thoughts and answer your questions

    •    Fellowship with others in the LGBTQIA+ Recovery Comunity

    •    Opportunities to get involved and support our mission

Your voice matters! Whether you’re in recovery, an ally, or someone who wants to see more inclusive support resources in our city, we welcome you to be part of this conversation. Together, we can Rebuild, Grow, and Embrace a stronger, more connected recovery community in San Antonio.

Why This Matters

Recovery is hard enough without having to explain who you are first. Too many LGBTQIA+ people in recovery have walked into a meeting and felt like they had to leave part of themselves at the door, or have left recovery altogether because no room felt safe.

The DRA Center is a safe place for LGBTQIA+ recovery. We are open every day, and we welcome every path to recovery (12-step fellowships, Dharma Recovery, SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery, and more). We ask nothing of you except that you show up. Since opening in April 2025 we have grown fast, and every meeting, coffee pot, and light bulb here is paid for by people like you.

What Your Gift Does

  • $50/month keeps the coffee, creamer, and sugar stocked, every month, all year.
  • $100/month keep our library a literature stocked for anyone that needs it.
  • $250/month covers the water, the printer ink, the toilet paper, and other supplies we regularly have to replenish.
  • $500/month literally keeps the lights on. Pays our monthly electric bill.

Giving once? Every one-time gift counts toward our $5,500 goal and may be boosted by sponsor-funded matches and prizes on Big Give day. All gifts are tax-deductible; DRA is a 501(c)(3).

Every little bit helps: if just 20 people become monthly donors at $25 during Big Give, we don't have to worry about keeping the lights on, or the a/c running.

Become a Sustaining Donor

You don't have to be in recovery, and you don't have to live in San Antonio. If you believe queer people deserve a place to heal, as little as $25 a month keeps that place open every day. Just check "make this monthly" when you give.

The Big Gay Give

DRA is also in The Big Gay Give, a fundraising competition where local drag queens go head-to-head for their nonprofits. Isis Paris York is representing us. Every dollar raised on her page keeps the DRA Center open, and the queen who raises the most is crowned Queen of the Big Gay Give. Catch Isis on stage September 23 and 24, and give before 6 PM on the 24th.
